Yesterday, my mother in law went in for brain surgery at 8:30am. By 10:00am the surgeons were done and she was coming out of anesthesia. By 11:00am she was awake and talking. We went to see her in the evening. She was on some pain medications and was a little sleepy but we talked to her about her surgery. The doctor's said that the tumor had started growing blood vessels and attaching to the brain. It was pretty minor but if she had waited 6 months the tumor would have been much more difficult to remove and it could have caused some serious brain trauma when removed. She also told us that the nurse was pretty much ignoring her because another patient was in pretty bad shape. We are so grateful to have the patient that can be ignored.
This morning, they moved her out of the ICU and into a 'normal' hospital room. She is off of oxygen and IV fluids and is controlling pain with Lortab. This is 24 hours after BRAIN surgery!! She will probably be coming home tomorrow and could be back up and going within two weeks.
We feel that the Lord has helped tremendously with all of this. We are thankful that the tumor was found and removed before any long term damage was caused to the brain. We love Grandma and are looking forward to many more years of enjoying her company.

Zach swallowed an Advil today. I know it doesn't sound too exciting but we have some pill swallowing-averse children. This is a big day!...
