Hiking Mount Timpanogos

It is funny how when you move away from a place you realize all of the cool things that you should have done while you lived there. Last summer we realized that we had never done the hike up to the Mount Timpanogos caves in all the years that we lived in Utah. So, we added that to our list of things to do next time we go to Utah. This trip to Utah was the time! We took Ethan and Zach and went with Uncle Bud, Aunt Amy, and Scott. It was quite a hike. It was a hot day and I didn't want to overdo it so I made everyone take lots of breaks. We Cluff's stayed close to the mountain while Scott made me nervous by getting too close to the edge. The caves themselves were amazing and well worth the hike. The ranger who gave us the tour started asking the group questions about why and how the different formations developed. Ethan just finished up a huge geology unit at the end of the school year and was eager to answer all the questions. Zach helped out too and the ranger started using the boys as her helpers. She had them go ahead of the group to see if one of the areas was empty and ready for our tour and she started calling them her Jr. Rangers. It was a really fun experience.
