Bus Trauma

Yesterday Zach went to a field trip for school. He wasn't very excited because they were going to Farm Country. He said it was going to be a "stinky" field trip so he didn't want to go. But, I told him he would have a good time. Both morning and afternoon classes were going together so all of the kids attended the morning session. Zach got to ride the bus to school with Ethan and then came home on the morning bus. Tim headed over to the bus stop at the appointed time and the other kindergarten kids were walking home. Zach was nowhere. I immediately called the school and they radioed the bus driver. Sure enough, Zach was still on the bus. They asked me where I was and I gave them our address. A few minutes later the bus pulled up and I rescued Zach. He was on the verge of hysterics. I carried him inside and snuggled with him while he cried. Then, Tim took a turn comforting him. When he calmed down he told us that he had tried to get off of the bus but the driver kept driving. I felt for him. I remember having a similar experience in kindergarten when I couldn't remember how to get myself home. It was terrifying. After breathing returned to normal and all of the tears were dry I asked him how his stinky field trip was.
His highlights: It didn't smell as bad as he thought it would. He got to see a baby goat and even got to pet the leg of one goat and the back of another. (That is REALLY big--Zach has never been fond of animals.) One of the goats looked crazy--he had circles on his forehead that made him look like he had four eyes. He thinks maybe they were going to grow into horns someday but they looked crazy now. He had good friends in his group(Brandon, Talon, Annie and Aubrie and he says not to forget that he was there too) and loved the tractor ride--the driver went "speedy" for the kids. Talon brought a camera. They got to make an art project with real wool, hay, felt, seeds, and corn. It was really cold (there was snow on the ground when we woke up!) so they ate their sack lunches back in their classroom.
Hopefully the fun day at the farm will be a much longer lasting memory than the bus trauma.

That would be very terrifying! Glad he's OK though and hopefully not too much damage was caused from the incident. We love you guys!

That kind of stuff scars a kid for life, the poor thing! I'm glad that the field trip was good though.

Oh, that must have been so scary for him! It's tough to be a kindergarten kid!

I hated that feeling of panic - worrying I wouldn't make it to the front of the bus in time. Poor guy!
