Our zoo membership expires on June 30th and, like many people, we won't be renewing it this year. Gas prices are just so high that it doesn't seem like the economic outing anymore. Luckily, we have farm country, the dino museum and the gardens just up the road to keep us busy. But, before the membership expired we made one last trip up to the zoo. We rode the train, played on the animal themed playground, watched the penguins get fed, ate Dreamsicles and Creamies, and walked around the zoo until we all just about fainted from exhaustion. I was a little hesitant to go this morning because of the heat but between trees, table umbrellas, and shade canopies we were able to stay relatively cool. The kids each got to see their favorite animals one last time--for a while. I have loved having a zoo membership and being able to have short zoo outings. I look forward to when it is a good option again.

One Last Hurrah

one thing I like about that zoo are the water misters -- and they do have plenty of shade which is very nice in that heat.
*We also had one last hurrah at the zoo on Friday (membership also expiring). Saw everything, had ice cream cones . . . spent 5 whole hours there! We've got out zoo fill for some time.
We just went to the London Zoo yesterday, which is huge and in my opinion, more fun than the Hogle Zoo (which mostly I don't like because of the huge hills and the Utah heat). However, a single adult ticket to the London Zoo is 17.50 GBP (about $35!), which is why we don't go very often....
