Growing up in my family, we always had our big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and ate leftovers on Christmas day. Tim's family does a big Christmas Day dinner. You would think that it wouldn't be a big deal either way and really it isn't. But, it is still a little weird for me. So, to make up for not cooking a big dinner, I made sugar cookies and baked cinnamon rolls on Christmas Eve day.

We had a "normal" family dinner on Christmas Eve and then headed over to Thanksgiving Point for a drive through Christmas lights display. It was really cool because after the reindeer, elves, Santa and winter light displays they had pictures of the Nativity Story. Each picture was accompanied by words from a Primary Christmas song. A great way to end the light display. Afterwards, we came back home and read from Luke chapter 2. Then, off to bed for the kids. We were shocked when we peeked in on them around 10pm and they were all asleep.

Then, to shock us even more, they didn't get up until the normal wake up time--6:45am. At 6:30 someone woke up and went to the bathroom. I figured that I better get up so I jumped in the shower. I expected to hear the kids--but it was silent. I poked my head into the bedroom and all of the boys were in bed. I told them that I was surprised that they were in bed and Ethan sleepily asked why. I said 'because it is Christmas morning'. BANG, Zach sits upright in bed and starts climbing down the ladder. They were all down the stairs in a matter of seconds checking out their stockings. Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Buddy came down to our house for breakfast and to watch the kids open gifts. Then, we headed down to Grandma's for gifts. The day was spent back and forth between our house and Grandma's, playing with new toys and eating and enjoying the magic of Christmas.
Hightlights:
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast--yummy.
The plate that Zach made me. According to Zach, it is a picture of 'Snowboy' the time that he had to take over for Santa and deliver all of Christmas. (Santa fell off of Snowboy's roof or something.)

Pokemon cards--the boys all got some from Santa and some from Uncle Buddy. Wyatt can tell you just about everything about each Pokemon even though he can't read yet.

Mario Kart--what a fun game! I love that you can have up to four players.
Wii Fit--I really should play this game daily. It is a good workout!
Watching Mallory play with her dolls. PRICELESS!

Spending time with my husband and kids without school or work.

I love your description of the kids waking up & finally realizing what day it is. :)
Looks like a great Christmas morning. Mario Kart is the best! That's one I enjoy sitting down to play with the kids.
Our kids got Mario Kart for Christmas too. It is nice that all four of them can play (we use our 2 wii remotes & our 2 game cube remotes). Then there is no fighting over who's turn it is.
That sounds like a wonderful Christmas! I love Mallory and her dolls, too cute!
I can't believe how big the kids are!
Glad you had a great christmas
