West Thumb

We decided to hit one more geyser area before finding our cabin for the night. This one was so interesting because it was right on the edge of Yellowstone lake. Some of the hot spots were actually in the lake, like Big Cone. As we were heading along the boardwalk we realized that there was an Elk right next to the path, eating its dinner. Mallory had asked earlier in day if she could pick some of the wildflowers. We explained that we weren't supposed to pick anything at Yellowstone. When we saw the Elk I pointed out that the Elk was eating the flowers and that we left them alone so that the Elk could have food. Afterward, every time she saw a flower she would comment about how we didn't pick them because they were for the Elk.
The Abyss Pool was so deep and the water was so clear that you really felt like you the Pool went on forever. After touring the basin we stopped at the picnic area for dinner and then headed to Lake Lodge Cabins for the night. We were all exhausted from a fun day.
