What a marathon of parties!
#1: It started with the Ward Trunk or Treat on Wednesday night. It was really cold outside so we had to supplement the costumes with coats, gloves, hats etc. I stayed in the trunk snuggled up under a blanket handing out candy. After the kids were done with getting treats we headed inside to get warmed up with donuts and hot chocolate. Our bishopric had gone around to all of the trunks and came up with an award for each family based on family costumes or the trunk decorations. Our award was Spooky Cemetery because of the tombstones and skeletons we had in our trunk. Here they are: Mallory the ladybug, Zach as ObiWan, Ethan as Pokemon trainer Ash, and Wyatt as Killands--his personally designed Lego Star Wars character-a Jedi storm trooper without a mask.
#2: The Law School Party (Thursday). The one, can't be missed, law school event of the year. Start us all off with a pizza lunch and then send the kids around to the study carrels for trick or treating. Why can't it be missed? Because they come back with a years worth of candy--seriously, we finished off last years candy the week before. Here are the sugar crazed boys with the load of candy:
#3: School Parties and Clawson Family Party (Friday)
Our Elementary school Principle was insistent that the new school should start a tradition of a Halloween Parade. I remember doing these as a kid and was pretty excited to see my kids finally get a chance to make this memory. The morning kindergarten class did their own mini parade with the other kindergarten classes, of course I forgot my camera. But, I did remember it for the school parade. It was a lot of fun to see all of the kids in costume and the number of parents who came to see the parade was outstanding. Ethan in the parade:
And here is the camera shy hermit ObiWan :
There was actually a good reason for Zach not cooperating. He spent most of the party resting at his desk. I felt bad because I couldn't just take him home. He did agree to get in the class picture although it is really hard to find him because he is hiding in his Jedi robe.
I took him home right after the party and found that he had a temperature of 103. We were supposed to be heading up to a family party that evening but after going over all of his symptoms with the nurse we ended up at the Doctors office. They said he had the swine flu symptoms and sent us home. We sent Ethan and Wyatt up to the party with Grandma and Grandpa. Thanks to my sister in law for posting a picture of the event on her blog since I wasn't there.
That night my mom flew into town so I stayed with Zach while Tim drove up to get her.

#4: Halloween (Saturday) Talk about anti-climatic--besides the fact that we had Grandma Perkins visiting of course. We were pretty done with Halloween by the time it actually came. Ethan went out trick or treating with a friend. We didn't expect to even go but Mallory, of all people, insisted on going. Tim took Mallory and Wyatt around to a few neighborhood houses. I stayed home with Grandma and Zach to hand out candy. We were able to talk Zach into putting on his robe for a picture on Halloween.
And there you have it. Halloween 2009.
