School Spelling Bee(s)

What a stressful day--at least it was for me. I get so stressed out watching my kids spell. The fun thing was that Grandma and Grandpa Cluff came into town last night for the weekend so they got to come too.
First up today was Ethan. They had the top 9 kids from the grade competing. He came in 2nd to one of his best friends, Carson. They would give each other high 5's in between words. In true Ethan fashion, he did a hand pump when they awarded him his medal. I am so very proud of him!He won't be able to go to the multi-school spelling bee because he will be at the Klondike (cold weather) camp out for scouts. He already told the alternate so that she could start studying.

Next up was Zachary. His best friend, Andrew was also competing so there was more high 5-ing going on. The field of competitors narrowed quickly once they moved up to 5th grade words. It came down to Zach and Jace and they went head to head for quite a few rounds. They were several rounds into 6th grade words before Zach became victorious. It was a good thing that he helped Ethan study those 6th grade words! So, next week Zach will be 'defending' his title in the multi-school spelling bee. I wouldn't be surprised if it came down to him and Jace again--they were both incredible.

The last spelling bee of the day was Wyatt's. Oh my, he had some tough competition. I think 1 kid got out before they finally moved up to 3rd grade words. There was no stumping these kids! Wyatt lasted a couple of rounds into the 4th grade words before he missed one. He ended up in 6th place. Not too shabby--although I could tell he was disappointed (he refused to smile for any pictures). Next year buddy.

These boys are constantly amazing me with their talents. I love to watch them grow.

Way to go boys! I got nervous just reading your post! Hey, Courtney has a spelling bee coming up. Do you have a list or something of the words your kids used to study, she would love to look over them. The pictures were so fun!
