Can't the poor kid catch a break?

I don't want to complain...but here goes. Isn't it enough to have a new baby, start school again with four kids, move to a new state, try to sell a house in a down market, have it take forever to close on, and say "see you later" (not goodbye!) to friends and family? Life just seems to be adding challenges instead of taking them away. On Monday (or Tues.) we went to run an errand and our car was dead. I finally was able to get it jumped and taken over to Les Schwab for a new battery this morning. But, that isn't the biggest thing I am writing to moan about. While I was back packing the house Zachary and Ethan had hearing tests at school. Surprise!...Zach didn't pass. They did a follow up test and he didn't pass that either. So this week (with a borrowed car) I took Zach to the district audiologist for some more testing. Zach didn't want to go. He kept saying that his ears were fine, he had already had two tests for them. I convinced him that we just needed to go prove it. So we went. The audiologist did a sound vibration type testing (twice) and said that the results were "flat". (They were supposed to be spiked.) Then, we went to the soundproof booth for the beeping test. I got to sit in the booth with Zach and the audiologist was outside. Zach had his little headphones on and could hear and talk to the audiologist. They did the beeping part and then the audiologist had Zach repeat words to him. I almost started to cry when I realized that Zach wasn't repeating all of the words. I guess the good news is that the test results didn't show nerve damage. I don't think we are dealing with a hearing aid kind of situation. The audiologist said there is probably fluid in the ear or something. He assured me that it is a medical issue that can be corrected. Now my Zachy, who has already been through a couple of surgeries and too many painful tests to think about, has to go have himself prodded and poked some more. Why can't the poor kid catch a break?

oh, the poor kid! Well, luckily it isn't a hearing aid issue - I have several young cousins who've had to go that route.
Hopefully this is something that can be remedied quickly and easily.
YOU deserve a break!

oh Tiffini! My heart aches for you! How hard it is to have to deal with so many things on your plate. You are a wonderful mother and I look up to you. I hope your week gets better and all can be resolved. Remember we love you guys!

I'm so sorry Tiffini! Poor Zach. I certainly hope that they can fix what they need to quickly and that Zach's hearing will be as good as new. What a trooper he is. And YOU too! Hang in there.

Oh man, what a bummer. At least the doctor is confident it can be corrected. Just today Austin came home from school with a paper carrying the results of his vision test. He did not pass. It says that he needs to go in for testing with an eye doctor. I know how I felt seeing that paper, so I can definitely sympathize with you! Good luck. Keep us posted.

Poor guy...I am so sorry he has to go through more testing and procedures. We will be praying for a quick and painless recovery. You have been given a VERY full plate the last few months. You are an amazing woman and CAN DO THIS...there's no doubt. Hang in there, friend. We are all thinking of you.

I feel bad that Zach has more to go through. At least it can be corrected.

Reading about your latest bends in the road reminds me of the old Morten Salt commercial - "When it rains, it pours". Sometimes it seems that way...good luck with everything.

Poor Zach! I never passed the hearing tests at school either and I ended up fine. Hopefully though they will be able to find out what the problem is and get it remedied soon!

Flag Football

Kickin' Kids offers a flag football season. Ethan and Zach both wanted to participate. We were able to get them on the same team and had...
