More surgery...
Well, the word came in from the Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. Surgery. Apparently, his eardrums are quite thick now because stuff has been built up in there for who knows how long. Next Tuesday Zach goes in to get tubes in his ears and get his adenoids removed. He is not excited. I am. Easy for me to be excited when I am not the one in pain. But, I am anxious to have him hear clearly. After his last dose of steroids he told me that he could hear the engine of the car when we drove. He couldn't hear that before and actually right at the moment he can't. The doctor told me that one of her patients didn't get diagnosed until she was 12 years old. She was so used to living in a muffled world that she had to wear cotton balls in her ears for 3 months before she was used to the added "noise". I am grateful that we caught this before he got to that point. Another thing the doctor said is that we will see immediate results. I can't wait!!!

Zach swallowed an Advil today. I know it doesn't sound too exciting but we have some pill swallowing-averse children. This is a big day!...

We're sorry he has to have more surgery, however excited about the future.
So sorry he has to have more surgery! But immediate results sound good! Good luck with everything.
I'm sorry that he has to have more surgery, but so exciting to think of all the things he'll be able to hear once it's over!
Your story of the 12 year old girl reminded me of my uncle - he must have had something similar done when he was an adult (late 20's). The smallest noises really bothered him and he was really surprised to find out that certain things even make a sound -- like the sound of bacon cooking, or the sound of zipping your pants or jacket. It was all new to him.
I hope that everything goes well. And to help ease his mind you could tell him that he's going to have "Super Ears" with the "power to hear"!
I love that Shannon--he already has his super kidney so now he will be even more super. (And he and Super Wy(att) can jump on their Wy-flyers together!)
Surgery is never fun, but I hope that it fixes his problems! My nephew went through a similar surgery and it worked for him. HUGS!
Sorry that Zach has to have more surgary, but I am so glad that you guys are getting things fixed. I know it has been frustrating.
My friend's son had this surgery a few years ago and it worked wonders. And yes, it was immediate! We will be thinking about sweet Zach. Good luck! Keep us posted.
Hmmm, my comment didn't post. Well, I had just said that I hope his surgery goes really well and that he is hearing 100% soon. And that you will have to keep us updated on his adjustment to hearing *everything*, I'm sure he will have some sweet moments with that :)
