Field Trip

Ethan has been complaining all year that he hasn't been on any field trips. Of course, due to budget cuts, they canceled the big field trip for the 3rd graders. Luckily, the teachers were able to put together a walking field trip. Not too far away from the school, a family has been creating their own little town in their backyard. Every child and grandchild has a building dedicated to them. The newest project that 'grandpa' has started is a gold mine. It was pretty amazing to think about all of the time and effort they have put into creating this little world. Most of the family was there to give little tours of their buildings. They had a little Saloon complete with an old fashioned poker machine. They did inform us that the saloon served no alcohol. Ethan, Jack, Jamison and Tanner ready for some Root Beer and Poker! We joked about poor Colton--who had the "Colton's County Jail" and then we realized that Colton was sitting right there in front of the jail. He didn't seem to mind having the jail dedicated to him. Ethan and I made sure we got a picture in front of the "Tiffany Hotel". One of my favorite things was the Victorian 'Bed and Breakfast' Playhouse (Mallory needs this!). The boys pretended like they didn't like it but we ended up over there several times. After we finished our tour we headed over to a nearby park for games. It was a lot of fun. What a great family to host half of the third grade. And that is saying something--I think they had close to 140 kids come through that day.
