With us leaving town for the Holidays, the extended Cluff family decided to get together on Sunday evening to exchange some gifts. The family is getting pretty large, especially with Lisa and Jake in town, so we were grateful to have Grandma's huge downstairs living space to gather in and throw wrapping paper everywhere.
Grandma Cluff can always be counted on for a few things at Christmas time. Goodies galore. Games from DI, which may or may not include all the pieces. Clothes, usually not too exciting, but this year the Mario shirts went over big. Stuffed animals, also usually cherry picked from DI. And most of all books; lots of books; so many books that our boxes get very heavy and I have to make multiple trips to carry everything back to our house four doors down. The books come from DI too, and they are often a little worse for the wear, but I love that our boys love to read, and I think that that comes in large part from Grandma providing them lots of opportunities over the years by making sure there are more books around than we could possibly ever read. And I predict that Mallory will also be a prodigious reader as well, as she loves nothing more than to sit down with Grandma and a good book - for hours at a time if you will let her. Hopefully having Grandma around to read too her won't spoil her too much or she may not bother learning to read at all.
