ig-pay atin-lay

We have this running rule at our house that the word dessert, treat, cookie, etc etc are not to be spoken at the table unless Mallory has finished eating. If they are spoken--she stops eating and refuses any more food. And the consequence for speaking those taboo words at the table is that, even if previously planned, there will be no treat.
About a month ago Ethan, Zach and Wyatt figured out how to speak pig latin. This was discovered as they were anticipating Monster Cookies and waiting for Mallory to finish eating. However, in their enthusiasm for the concept of pig latin, they said onster-may ookie-kay so many times that Mallory started asking for them too. I warned them that she was a smart little girl and that she would figure out what they were talking about. Luckily for them, she finished her food that night and we all enjoyed the cookies.
Fast forward to now. She has it all figured out. At least the words referring to treats. She decided that she didn't want to eat her sandwich at lunch and declared herself to be done. Then, she looked at me and said "Can I have a reat-tay?" Ha Ha little girl--dream on!

She's a smart 'cookie'! I just caught up on your posts, sounds like everyone is doing well. I saw your mom at the temple yesterday and she said you guys are coming this way for Christmas. Hopefully I can see you this time. Take care.
