Intercepted Communication

As I was leaving the kids' elementary school after volunteering I saw Ethan's teacher in the hall. I made a little comment about seeing Ethan and she said "Did you notice that I had to move his desk?" We talked for just a moment and she told me that he had been spending too much time turned around talking to the girls that sat behind him. So, now he is front and center in the classroom. I knew someday his talking would get him in trouble.
Mrs. Herrmann also informed me of one of the class rules "no passing notes". She said that the kids love to intercept notes and turn them in to her because apparently she then reads them aloud to the class. The other day a note was turned in that was meant for Ethan. It was from his best friend Oakley (yes, a girl). The note read:

Ethan,

You are my best friend. I would never cheat on you.

Oakley

Oh my! I didn't think that he was old enough for note passing or having friends 'cheat' on each other. Oh, and to set the record straight--as Ethan would want me to do--he and Oakley are just friends. They don't 'like' each other. And cheating was about Oakley ignoring Ethan. But, boy did his face turn red when I asked him about it! What are we in for during the teenage years??

Oh my goodness. That made me laugh. Hey, do you know if Zach's and Brandon's class is having a party or a Christmas program?
