One of the perks of being a Scout Leader is getting to go to Day Camp, especially when one of my kids goes too. It was fun to be there with Zach. Day Camp is a one day event with lots of activities to rotate around to. We (the boys) made a model wooden train, tied knots, made rope, played flag football, had a relay race, learned about orienteering, stamped leather and of course learned to shoot arrows and bee bee guns. It makes me tired just typing it all out. We only had one injury in our troop and that was at the end of the day when one of the kids started climbing a tree and fell. It wasn't too bad of a fall but I felt bad for him. He had gotten in trouble for not paying attention during orienteering, lost his spot in line for archery(because of goofing off during orienteering), found out that somebody had broken his model train wheels, and then fell out of the tree. Hopefully the day was still fun overall for him. I got a couple of good pictures of the boys during archery.

I got in trouble for taking one of them. I had heard the person in charge talk about the safety zones and how everyone needed to stay outside of the roped off area when they weren't doing the archery. I was outside of the roped area taking a picture and realized that the guy was pointing at me and yelling for me to back up.

Apparently, the ropes had nothing much to do with the danger zone, it was a much bigger area than just the roped off area. Oops. At least I got my picture!

One day of day camp? wow. Ours is 5 days and I think it is overkill. The boys are pretty worn out by Friday.
Ahh, the archery safety zone. The BB and Archery guys are always big sticklers on safety (which is a GOOD thing), but I remember learning early on that you have to ask their permission to enter/exit the shooting zone.
