Casting #4

Monday, February 22, 2010

I am getting to be a pro at this. I didn't even bother to put her in anything besides a onesie today--not worth the hassle. I nursed her before we left for the doctor and then fed her a little formula before the doctor came in the room. The result...she slept through most of it again. I miss her little legs. I always have a few minutes between one cast coming off and the next set going on but her legs are so dirty from the plaster that there isn't any of that fresh from the bath kissing of the clean little baby toes. I guess I will have to make up for it in a little over a month. The 'between the casts' shot: And finally, I remembered to get a picture of Dr. Holmes(in the sweater) and Nurse Sheri (in the scrubs) putting the casts on.
Leg one: Leg two:At the rate she is progressing, her 'tendon release' and last set of casts will be put on March 8th. My understanding is that the last set stays on for three weeks while the tendon regrows to the proper length. She should be out of casts and onto the braces by the time she is two months old.

I am absolutely amazed at how fast the process is! I know that she is already an overachiever and ahead of schedule, but still!
I can't wait until we an finally meet her! When are you going to bless her?

oh my goodness Tiffini, she is such a sweetheart! I'm glad that the process has been a breeze so far. And to think she'll be on her last casts in just a few weeks? Wow, that flew by!

Wow! I had no idea how this whole process worked. Thank you for educating me about this, in some small way. Way to go, Darcy! (And you too, of course)

She is so sweet. I can't believe how calm she is through it. Lucky you! My fourth had to be in a cast for three months. What a pain! I'm glad she's almost done.

wow her little ankles look way better, that is really fast...my brothers feet took a couple of years wearing a brace to just give him arches...what a bleesing to have it progress so quickly

Oh and by the way SHE is ADORABLE!

But of course we knew she would be after the first four cuties

We are so blessed from modern medical knowledge. Soon, all this will be a distant memory and your baby will be toddling all over the place.
