2 years old

Darcy turned 2 today! Sadly for her, the best appointment time I could get for her well-child doctors appointment was today. But, they tried to spoil her with a crown, bookmark, bouncy ball, book, sticker and pencil. She still cried when they gave her a shot but she recovered pretty quickly. We invited cousins and aunts and uncles to come and share in her festivities. I made these tasty cupcakes: They are covered in marshmallows--Darcy LOVES marshmallows. She had a good time opening her presents. Such a good time that she wouldn't look at the camera. She got the biggest kick out of everyone singing Happy Birthday to her. I don't think I have ever seen her looking so pleased. We had to help her blow out the candles but when I sang her Happy Birthday one last time before bedtime she started blowing so I think next year she will know what to do. She is such a fun little girl. She loves all things girl--dancing, getting her hair done, wearing dresses, twirling, playing with dolls etc. She is starting to talk. Just yesterday she said 'Mally bie (Mallory bite)' when she saw that Mallory had a rice krispy treat. It was the first time she had put two words together without being prompted. It was pretty exciting. I made a list of her words for the doctor just to make sure she was within normal ranges. He said she is borderline but on the good side of the border. He gave me the phone number to have her evaluated by a speech therapist if we wanted but I think at this point we are going to wait and see if she picks things up a notch before making the call.
